Friends of Kate Middleton have claimed that the way the Princess was forced to go public with her cancer diagnosis was “almost desperate” after weeks of conspiracy theories relating to her wellbeing and whereabouts.
On Friday evening, the Princess of Wales released a candid video where she discussed the heartbreaking diagnosis, explaining that she had wanted to first take time to explain things to her children. Reports say the video was timed to coincide with the breakup of the kids’ school for Easter.
All manner of outlandish claims have been made about Kate since she was hospitalized for 13 days for what was termed at the time a “planned abdominal procedure”. Now that the world knows the truth, such distasteful conjecture will hopefully cease, though friends of the Princess are said to be angry that she’s been subjected to the speculation at a time when she is at her most vulnerable.
The future Queen cut a stoic and strong figure as she announced her cancer diagnosis in dramatic fashion late last week. Kate divulged that tests following the abdominal procedure she underwent in January had revealed cancer, though the exact type of cancer – or what stage it is in – remains unclear.
As stated, the video’s release is generally believed to have been timed to match the end of the school term for Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, with the Waleses now given the opportunity to spend the Easter break at home together as a family.
Reports, however, claim that Kate’s declaration was also in-part forced upon her by the unrelenting storm of rumors that have dogged her recovery.
That the Princess has found herself the focus of mass media attention cannot be denied, but it’s perhaps the scrutiny from the public that has weighed most heavily.
With Kate having not been photographed or seen on video since Christmas, people grew restless, and the lack of information from the Palace only served to feed into the idea that the royals were trying to hide something.
No longer. Kate’s brave admission last week categorically answered most all of the questions the general public might have had, while hopefully also prompting an end to the incessant gossip.
Indeed, friends of the Princess suggest that was her aim all along.
“Catherine’s message was so honest,” one pal reportedly told The Sunday Times.
“Isn’t it sad that she has to be so honest and share that because of all the nonsense that has been around?
“I feel like the whole world has been gossiping about her and there is so much bull**** out there about her and her family.
“It was almost desperate that she had to do it.”
Another friend close to the Princess of Wales said that Kate had told the world about her cancer because: “She felt she had to do it”.
They told the Sunday Times: “She felt she had to do it because of who she is. It was more that she knows she is a public figure and has a wider leadership responsibility.
“She also wants to be able to carry on with as active and normal a routine as possible.”
I don’t know about you, but I sincerely hope that the Princess can now make her recovery in relative peace.
